Director General of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), Mr. Maxwell Hinga Massaquoi, last week, went on a working visit to the Commission’s Zonal Offices in Moyamba, Pujehun, Kenema and Bo respectively. One of the reasons behind this historical visit is to get first-hand information from staff of the Zonal offices. He trip is said to be successful.

Maxwell Hinga Massaquoi’s first point of call was Moyamba, where staff had the opportunity to update the DG and team, about the activities of their work in the district. The DG made a conducted tour of the facility, advised them to be steadfast and work diligently for the progress of Sierra Leone. He promised to address their concerns in the weeks to come. The staff expressed joy and appreciation over the DG’s visit, this they say, shows how much interest and concern he has for his staff. In Pujehun Zonal office, staffs were also given similar opportunity to talk with the DG on how they could improve on their work. Papers were presented to the DG, which include their concerns and plea and further made an inspection of the building. He said that their concerns will be looked into and addressed immediately. He also admonished them to work as a team if they truly want to deliver, adding that he is extremely happy to make this trip to Pujehun.

The team left for Kenema, where staff members jubilated on seeing the first Director General ever to pay a working visit to Zonal Offices in the Bo, Moyamba, Pujehun and Kenema. The staff disclosed that this has never happened and to them they are not only proud, but feel elated that their boss, the DG, is in their midst. They also presented a paper to the DG highlighting their concerns and activities. The DG who was also happy to meet with them, cautioned the staff to work for the development of Sierra Leone. He reiterated that President Bio is determined to rebrand this nation, adding that whoever is given the responsibility to work must do it diligently so that posterity will not blame them.

The DG’s last point of call was in Bo city, where he met with staff of the Commission and had a fruitful meeting with papers presented to him. One of the oldest staff member disclosed that he has never seen any DG going on a working visit to Zonal offices except now, and this shows that NATCOM is taking a new path. It further revealed how the DG is steadfast in achieving the dream of President Bio. Addressing staff in Bo, he was particularly happy to have accomplished his desire to make this trip and further noted that he is impressed with what he saw in Moyamba, Pujehun, Kenema, and Bo. He said almost all the Zonal offices share similar concerns and he is ready and determined to address them to the letter.

“This year has been declared by the President as a year of delivery and as for NATCOM we have been on that path and will continue to be steadfast to achieve more of the desired goals of the President”, the DG added, maintaining that he is happy the staff in all the Zonal offices are highly spirited and committed to work. Whatever bothers them, they should inform the Zonal Manager and he will direct it to him for action, noting that his lines are open to staff who want to share concerns regarding the Commission. Similar visits will be replicated in Makeni, Port Loko and Kono in the days to come, it was disclosed.
