The University of Sierra Leone which includes Fourah Bay College, College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) on Saturday, conferred degrees to students whom it had certified as achieving university requirement.
The students in the first batch, including those receiving Bachelor of Art Honors and General, those in the faculty of social sciences and law as well as Medical doctors, pharmacists and nurses from COMAHS.
While he was delivering the welcome address during the ceremony at the Adjai Crowther Amphitheatre at Fourah Bay College campus, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the University Court, Modupeh Taylor-Pearce said that the university is pleased that in one year, it has been able to hold two congregations as in April this year, it conferred degrees to students in the class of 2012.
He laid emphasis on the word “mighty” which is found in the second and third lines of the third stanza of the national anthem, as he called on the graduates to go into the world and make the country great. ‘Be co-builders of a mighty nation’, he stressed.
The second set to be awarded degrees this coming Saturday at the same venue, will be students from IPAM, as well as those in the engineering departments.
