At a well-attended ceremony held at the Charms Beach Hotel at Aberdeen on Friday 28th February 2020, FOCUS 1000 has officially unveiled the National Executive of the Kombra Network in a bid to enhance the dissemination of public health messages in the area: of immunization, voluntary blood donation, Antenatal Care, the proper use of treated bed net and the reduction of teenage pregnancy.
The network constitutes of religious leaders, market women, traditional healers, CSOs and the media.
The National Kombra Network will be working closely with other Kombra Networks located in all 16 Districts in the country. According to Mr. Mohammad Bailor Jalloh, the CEO of FOCUS 1000, the Network would ensure that messages in relation to the reduction of infant and maternal mortality and teenage pregnancy, including the benefits of nutrition and reduction of hunger will be cascaded down to the last man and woman in the village. The network has other smaller divisions in ten chiefdoms in every district and these will be monitored by the executive of the National Kombra Network.
The composition of the National Network includes traditional healers, market women, media, and religious leaders from both faiths and Civil Society organisations. It is headed by Dr. Ramadan Jalloh, a Muslim Cleric, as National Coordinator. Members of the Executive are as follows:

The official launching of the Executive of the Network, was done by Rev, Christine Sutton, a member of the Board of FOCUS 1000, who admonished the members to be diligent in their work and expressed confidence in the type of personality seen in the executive. She noted that various reports from people are that FOCUS 1000 is visible in almost every part of the country and is confident that the executive will deliver on their expectations.
She stressed that the mission of the institution is to ensure that messages of nutrition, sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy, breastfeeding and domestic violence will be disseminated across the country to effect behavioural change. She extolled the CEO of FOCUS 1000 for the initiative, stressing that young people are being groomed to take over the good work after age had demanded that they step aside. During the meeting, review was done on its nutrition and immunization activities across the country, with several speakers and presentation on stakeholder mapping.
In his brief statement, the Representative from Irish Aid, Dr. Sulaiman Jalloh, expressed satisfaction in being part of the review and admonished them to do their best to deliver on their goals, and as a result build up more confidence on donor support.
Present at the ceremony were various CSOs, Heads of Kombra Network from various parts of the country, members of FOCUS 1000 and other relevant stakeholders including Neneba Jalloh, National Coordinator of the Scaling up Nutrition (SUN) Office located at the Office of the VP and the media.
