"Training Course on Pottery Production Techniques" Successfully Completed in Sierra Leone
On February 21, 2020, the closing ceremony of Training Course on Pottery Production Techniques was held at Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET) in Freetown. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Zhang Xueqian, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Dr. Josephus Brimah, Chief Technical and Higher Education Officer of the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and Dr. Mohamed Jalloh, Vice Principal of MMCET. 43 participants, 6 Chinese teachers and more than 150 faculty members and students of MMCET also attended the closing ceremony.
Counsellor Zhang congratulated all the trainees on completing the training course. He stated that human capital development is one of the top priorities in H.E. President Julius Maada Bio’ New Direction Manifesto, and China has always been helping Sierra Leone in human resources development and capacity building on a large scale. He assured that China will continue to provide support and assistance to Sierra Leone for its economic and social development within her capacity and based on the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.
Dr Brimah and Dr Jalloh conveyed sympathy and solidarity to the government and people of China in the latter’s combat with COVID-19. They expressed their sincere thanks to the Chinese government and people for the great support to human capital development in Sierra Leone. They highlighted that the mutually beneficial cooperation between Sierra Leone and China had always been commendable and they looked forward to seeing both sides take it to a new level.
After the statements, the trainees were awarded training certificates and presented their hand-made potteries as gifts to the representatives of the two governments to express their gratitude.
