Stats SL elected to the pinnacle of global statistical oversight and decision-making
'It gives me the greatest pleasure to inform Sierra Leone that Stats SL / Sierra Leone has just been elected to serve on the United Nations Statistical Commission' says Professor Sankoh Sierra Leone Statistian General.
From , 2020-2023, Sierra Leone will be among the 5 countries representing Africa in the Commission.
'I will do my best as my country's Chief Statistician to make Sierra Leone proud.'
The United Nations Statistical Commission, established in 1947, is the highest body of the global statistical system.
It brings together the Chief Statisticians from member states from around the world.
It is the highest decision making body for international statistical activities especially the setting of statistical standards, the development of concepts and methods and their implementation at the national and international level.
This calls for a national celebration.
