As the ongoing bigamy trial rages on in the Freetown High Court, members of the public are still awaiting Defendant- Alie Kabba to provide the hard copy of the divorce certificate which the Court in Illinois in the United States issued as he has always flaunted. Despite all the while the matter has taken in the Magistrate and now the High Court, the aspiring Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) has still not been able to make available the Decree Absolute which is the document that legally separates two divorcing couple- in this case between him and Edith Klein-Kabba.
Just recently, it was peddled in the media that Alie Kabba has received an Oral Dissolution from the State of Illinois but international as well as local legal luminaries have affirmed that an Oral Dissolution is not legally binding as it's issued for a period of six to eight weeks to allow estranged couples time to reconsider, and for the Court to finally process and issue the legally binding and acceptable certificate, which is the Decree Absolute, which separates the couple by law.
Supporters of Alie Kabba have also expressed that if their man is so sure that he indeed divorced Edith Klein-Kabba he should do the obvious by producing the Decree Absolute and not rely on an Oral Dissolution.
Meanwhile, the matter comes up again this Thursday 25th August.
