The House of Parliament on Tuesday 1st July 2014 unanimously amended and ratified the bill entitled: The Universities Amendment Act, 2014.

 

 


The Minister of Education Science and Technology, Dr Minkailu Bah presenting the document to the Members of Parliament in the well said the new Act will increase more learning institutions for the youth of this country.

 

 


He said the Dr Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology will be constructed in Magburaka in the northern part of the country in order to increase quality and excellent graduates that will serve the country and the world at large. He said the university will benefit every sierra Leonean in this country. He said the standard of the university will be different from many universities in the country and that it will produce excellent graduates for the nation.

 

 


The chairman of the education committee in parliament Hon. Sulaiman Muluku Sisay in his contribution said the committee on education is working very hard to see that the educational system in this country improve for their young generation. He said the ministry should facilitate the establishment of laboratories in every senior secondary school in this country so that the science and technology sector will improve.

 

 

 

Hon. Hassan Sheriff thanked the President for allocating the university in his constituency. He said the country will have more qualified people in the sciences who will be employed in the country especially in certain companies were scientific minds are needed. He noted that non Sierra Leoneans could not acquire some technical jobs because of lack of expertise in this regard.

 

 

 

Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma said President Ernest Bai Koroma’s government is a government that cannot fail his people as he promised. He promised to change the lives of his people and he is doing most of what he promised now. He said there is improvement in food production, youth employment, education and many other areas in the country and today another new university for the young that are willing to learn.

 

 

The Majority Leader of the House Hon. Ibrahim Bundu said the EBK University is not only for the people in the north but for the whole nation. He said the Ernest Bai Koroma government is on the move for change that no one can stand in the way. He said the government is through the various MDAs are doing a very good job in the country.
