Airtel Rising Stars Tourney Ends…
Northern & Western Starlets Are Champs
Western and Northern regions were crowned champions in the 3rd edition of the Airtel Rising Stars tournament last Sunday at the Wusum field in Makeni in the male and female categories respectively.
Fatmata J. Turay aka `Drogba` got a brace before Rabiatu R. Kanu sealed the score line to give their side a comfortable 3-0 victory over the Western region. The match, according to spectators, was trilling and entertaining.
According to the team manager of Mamoud FC, Mamoud the defeat was an embarrassment to his side. “We were not expecting such result,” he told this press. “We played well and failed to make good use of our `chances which I believe was responsible for such humiliation. My girls were complacent but the proved they are a better side.”
Former right back of Mamoud FC, Isata Kamara aka `Sagna` said she was delighted after her side victory over the title favorite. She said: “I felt good because I had a good game against my former team mates, she told this press. I proved worthy after they thrown me out of the club with disrespect.” She continued: “Even though I failed to scored but I made two clinical passes in Drogba`s brace. This would now serve as a warning to members of the club to respect their players.”
In the male category, FC Kallon young starlet, Alimamy Bundu aka `Abedi` brace was enough to help his side in a 2-1 victory over the host. Alimamy Bundu put his side ahead in the early minutes of the first half, but the host fought back with Alie B. Koroma leveling from the penalty spot ten minutes later.

The young starlet registered his second from outside the box with a left footed volley to increase their lead. Alie B. Kargbo could have leveled the score five minutes to full time but his brilliant shot went wide.
The Champions for the two categories received a cash prize of Le 1m each whilst the runners-up teams got Le 750,000 each. The third placed teams bagged Le500, 000 each.
Champions- 1,000,000 (One Million Leone)
Runners Up- 750,000 (Seven Hundred & Fifty Thousand Leones)
3rd Placed- Le 5000,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Leones)
