The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Anti Drugs football club, Alhaji Unisa Awoko Sesay has called on the various aspirants and their supporters to maintain peace and order as they go to the polls on August 3.
The advice from the veteran football administrator came after series of verbal and physical confrontations among stakeholders; most recent was the scuffle between SLFA Secretary General, Abdul Rahman Swarray and Mohamed Kallon at the national stadium.
Speaking to this press, Awoko called on various parties to maintain SLFA, CAF and FIFA statuses and to further respect each other irrespective of tribe, colour and affiliation.
Awoko has boldly stated that Rodney has been his close friend in the football family but he would throw his weight behind Isha Johansen as a result of the long standing relationship between him and the Tejan Cole family, describing Isha’s father as his mentor. That not withstanding, he said Foday Turay another contestant remains his personal friend and business associate.
However former, Secretary General of Kallon now a businessman, Umar Bash Taqi, has called for an independent candidate if the problem of football has to be solved.
According to him, the problem that has spilled from mere football politics to national politics will further degenerate if any of the four presidential wins. “A more compromise candidate outside the four will not only bring peace but can bring bridge the gap,” he suggested.
The country, he said needs focused and well grounded administrator to run the affairs of football in the country and not every Jack, Harry and Willy.
