In Airtel Rising Stars Tournament…
Defending female champions, Mamoud FC kicked off 3rd edition of the Airtel Rising Stars tournament campaign with a predictably facile 4-1 over a game but painful limited side Young Stars at the SLFA Football Academy in Kingtom on Thursday.
Rashidatu Kamara put her side in the early minutes of the match with a ten yards freekick before Margret Sesay doubles the score with a finish to her side in a comfortable position before the recess.
Hawa Conteh and Fatmata Mansaray extended their sides` lead before Zainab T Kamara got the consolation goal with a powerful freekick ten minutes to stoppage time. Despite their efforts, Young Stars could have lost by a lot more, with their opponents having spurned numerous one.
However, Adama Kargbo, a 9-year old class five pupil of Baptist Primary School at Waterloo impressed supporters in her tournament debut after her side Pama Queens suffered to a 3-0 defeat against Med United.
Despite her side`s defeat she was able influence supporters with her dribbling skills and good passes. The young talented female player acrobatic goal was ruled for offside by centre referee Zainab.
She was the youngest on the pitch and is believed to be the youngest ever to have ever played in Airtel Rising Stars competition since its inception.
Head coach of Mamoud FC, Emmanuel Turay aka `Yayoyayo` saifd he was impressed by the performance despite her side`s defeat, adding that her future is bright if she chooses football as her career. He said: “Kargbo has a great skills and she reminds me of Musu Pele, he told this press.
He however commended Airtel Rising Stars for organizing such tournament which will enable young talents to be identifying talents.

Speaking after the match, Adama said she was impressed by her debut. “I think I have a good game even though my side succumbs to our opponent”, she noted.
“I dribbled well and made some good passes to my team mates. I was bullied by opponent because I lack stamina but I hope to improve and probable work on my fitness for next year`s tournament”.
In the male category, Area Best defeat Bureh FC 1-0 while Med Mans FC beat Rural Friends by 1-0.
