According to reliable information reaching Awoko Sports, Ports Authority and FC Johansen will start this year’s Sierra Leone Premier League (SLPL) scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, July 3rd 2013 at the Wusum field in Makeni. But originally, the league should have started today Wednesday, June 26th 2013.

The change of date is the outcome of a meeting held on Monday, June 24th at the Football Academy, organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association for all stakeholders, the Normalization Committee and the Sierra Leone Premier League Board where they agreed by consensus to commence the League on the aforementioned date.

All fourteen participating Premier teams are expected to receive the sum of Le 10, 000, 000 (ten million Leones) each as seed money to prepare their teams ahead of the League. According to report, the amount will be paid by installment for the two legged League.

The information also stated that the Normalization Committee has pledged the sum of Le 50, 000, 000 (fifty million Leones) for the winner, while the runners up will bag Le 20, 000, 000 (twenty million Leones).

Chairman of the Premier League Board, Buffy Bailor assured Chairmen and Team Managers of a smooth and effective League. He said the subsequent fixtures will be announced in the coming days.

Meanwhile, nine venues including East, North, South and Western Area have been approved by the FA to host all Premier League matches.
