Sierra Leone’s newest Cyclists, Mahmoud Keita has emerged the winner of the just ended 6th Annual Northern Grand Cycling Championship which took place in Kamabai on 16th of June, the day of the African Child.
He finished the 45 miles race in a time of 2hrs 25 minutes 32 seconds and was immediately followed by the erstwhile champion, Augustine Sesay. Sesay won the race last year with the time of 2hrs 25 minutes 33 seconds.
Hillary Garber came third with a time of 2 hrs 26 minutes and 21 seconds.
Meanwhile, Mamoud Keita is also Champion of the U-23 cycling, given his victory in the senior category at Kamabai contest. This is Keita’s second major competition this year. He’s first was in on Independence Day this year where he cycled to second position.
He told this medium that he is happy to win the race as he has been working very hard to make sure that he wins the race and that he hopes to continue in his winning spree.
According to the Treasure of the Cycling Association Solomon Collier who was part of the team, the cyclists did their best to make the contest competitive and interesting and that he was very happy with that.
